An exciting journey to date

STL was established in 2002 as the ‘new kid on the block’, with the only IT solutions developed specifically for wholesalers using the open, flexible and scalable Microsoft platform. Since then we have launched numerous products into the sector, led the charge on service innovation, achieved consistent growth, and secured contracts with many of the UK’s top 30 wholesalers as well as a number of international clients.

Along the way, we have established successful partnerships beyond Microsoft, for example with Aabyss, Datalogic, NCR, Optomany, Swift Cloud and Verifone.

It was in partnership with NCR that we more recently entered the retail sector, supporting mixed wholesale operations as well as pure retailers. We’ve already made our mark in the field, picking up sizeable contracts with companies such as Golf Holdings (whose brands include Winemark and Russells Food & Drink), Paradise Island Adventure Golf and Twinmar (whose brands include as Soletrader and SOLE). NCR recognised this success by awarding us its 2018 ‘EMEA Software Partner of the Year’.

Planning for the future

Over the last decade, there has been little change to STL’s management structure. Our two founders – Ivan Durkin and Tim Dobie – are still Managing Director and Financial Director respectively, and STL’s Board has expanded only to include Mark Vasey as Technical Director. Now, in order to free the Board up to plan and steer the next phase of the company’s growth effectively, we have created the new role of Head of Operations (HoO) to oversee all day-to-day operational and customer service matters.

To this role, we have appointed an experienced operational manager: Greg Paffard, who joined us on 22nd July.

Greg will form part of STL’s Senior Executive Team alongside the three Board members. He will be supported directly by STL’s Operational Services Team which comprises: Support Manager Carolyn Brooks, and Technical Account Managers Tim Eccleston and Peter Barnaby.

What this means for you

From 22nd July 2019, the primary contacts for all day-to-day Project, Professional Services and Customer Support matters are as follows:

Introducing Greg Paffard, Head of Operations

Greg joins STL from Weir Minerals where he was the European Operations Manager in a business transacting £156 million per year.

Greg is a customer-focused leader with a great deal of experience in a B2B environment. He has the ability to optimise business opportunities, using initiative and experience to drive continuous improvements, and he is a very capable manager who understands the benefits of business process improvements to enhance the customer experience.

STL believes that the skills and operational experience that Greg brings to the organisation will enable his senior colleagues to take the business forward.
